Jethalal’s Weight Loss Secret Revealed: This Old-School Trick Can Transform Your Body Too
Dilip Joshi, best known for playing the iconic character of Jethalal Champaklal Gada in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, turned 57 this year. While fans love his comical on-screen avatar, many were left inspired after learning about his dramatic weight loss journey in 2023. The actor revealed that he lost 16 kilos in just one and a half months, using nothing but discipline and an old-school fitness trick.
Long before he became a household name, Dilip Joshi took up a challenging role in the Gujarati film Hun Hunshi Hunshilal in 1992. To fit into the character of a scientist, he was required to lose significant weight. At the time, he was working in an office and had little access to modern-day fitness trends. But what he lacked in resources, he made up for with sheer determination.
“I used to go to work, change at the swimming club, and run across Marine Drive to Oberoi (the hotel) in the rain, and go back. I would jog the whole way, and it used to take me 45 minutes. I lost 16 kgs in one and a half months,” he recalled in a previous interview.
Instead of relying on crash diets or a personal trainer, Dilip Joshi stuck to a simple plan, daily jogging. Even on rainy days, he stayed committed to his routine. “The sun was setting, and there would be a slight drizzle. The clouds used to look so beautiful,” he added, describing how the scenic view made the workout enjoyable.
His transformation shows that losing weight doesn’t always need fancy gym memberships or strict diets. Running regularly, even for 45 minutes a day, helped him achieve his goal.
How You Can Try This Too
Jogging or brisk walking daily can be a great way to shed extra kilos without spending hours in a gym. Just 30 to 45 minutes of consistent movement, whether it’s a morning jog in the park or an evening walk in your neighbourhood, can help improve stamina, boost heart health, and burn calories effectively. The key is regularity and not skipping the routine, even on days when motivation is low.
