Hinjewadi police registers FIR against seven for assaulting techie and his friend in restaurant

Pune: In a shocking incident, a 42-year-old technology professional and his companion were allegedly assaulted inside a restaurant and bar in Sutarwadi. On Sunday, the Hinjewadi police registered an FIR against seven individuals, including four cousins, for the assault.

As per the information provided, the incident took place on Saturday evening when the technology professional requested the establishment’s staff to prohibit children from entering the smoking area. The technology professional filed a complaint with the Hinjewadi police, stating that his friend suffered head injuries when one of the suspects threw a glass at him.

As per the information received, on Saturday, the plaintiff, his wife, and friends went to the restaurant for dinner. When he entered the smoking area of the bar, he noticed several children playing there. The plaintiff requested the establishment’s staff to not let children enter the smoking area. According to the complainant, one individual approached and began verbally abusing the technology professional for not allowing the children. Subsequently, the duo, accompanied by five other men, continued to verbally abuse him. They physically assaulted him and also pushed his wife.

According to reports, police have charged the suspects under sections 337 (endangering the lives or safety of others), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), 142, 143, 146, and 149 (rioting) of the Indian Penal Code.
