Pune: A 49-year-old software engineer working at a reputed IT firm in Hinjewadi sustained multiple injuries after falling into a roadside ditch on Saturday night. The incident occurred when a drunk daily wage worker accidentally collided with her while walking on the footpath.
According to Sub-Inspector of the Hinjewadi police, the woman suffered injuries to her spinal cord, hands, and face. Authorities have registered a case against the 23-year-old worker under Section 125 (A) (B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with acts endangering public safety.
Both the woman and the worker fell into the ditch and sustained injuries. The software engineer, a resident of a nearby housing society, was out for a walk around 8 PM when the incident took place. Local residents informed the police, who promptly took both individuals to the hospital.
The woman is currently undergoing treatment, while the police have issued a notice to the worker and are continuing their investigation.
