NCP Gears Up For Local Elections With Key Strategy Meeting Led By Sharad Pawar
Pune: Sharad Pawar Offers to Mediate in Purandar Airport Dispute, Urges Dialogue with Farmers
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, has begun strategizing for the upcoming local self-government elections, undeterred by their defeat in the state assembly elections. Sharad Pawar, the party president, has called a crucial meeting on February 28 in Mumbai, inviting current MPs, MLAs, and former legislators.
This meeting is set to focus on discussions surrounding the local body elections, particularly in light of a pending court hearing on February 25 regarding the petitions for the elections in the state’s local self-government institutions. The outcome of this hearing is expected to play a significant role in shaping the NCP’s approach. Prashant Jagtap, Pune City President of NCP, confirmed that the meeting is being organized to address these developments.
Political circles are keenly awaiting to see the role the NCP will take in these upcoming elections. Local body elections have been delayed for over three years, with administrative functions continuing in various districts, municipalities, and corporations due to the expiration of the terms of elected representatives.
