Pimpri-Chinchwad: A film-style welcome for a murder accused turned costly for his friends, as the police forced them to apologize with folded hands. Shyam Yatnalkar, who was released from prison after serving seven years for a murder, was welcomed with fireworks by his friends.

The celebratory welcome caught the attention of Nigdi police, who swiftly detained five to six individuals involved and made them apologize publicly.

Shyam Yatnalkar had been serving his sentence at Kalamba Jail for a murder case registered at Wai Police Station in Satara. He was convicted for killing a man over an illicit relationship. Just days after his release, he was back in police custody due to the grand celebration arranged by his friends.

Shyam arrived in Pimpri-Chinchwad in a car, where his friends celebrated with a fireworks display and a movie-style welcome. However, the police intervened, detained all involved, and gave them a stern warning before releasing them.

The Nigdi police took swift action, identifying the participants through CCTV footage and ensuring that such public displays of criminal glorification are discouraged.
