In the aftermath of an explosion at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, CCTV footage has surfaced showing a suspect entering the cafe’s premises with a bag. According to the police, the suspect placed the bag in the cafe and left before the blast occurred. The footage reveals the suspect, with his face concealed by a mask, glasses, and a cap, carrying a plate of idlis inside the cafe. Another individual seen with the suspect has been detained and is undergoing questioning.

The blast, which injured ten people, triggered a swift response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. The police have invoked stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act in response to the attack. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged the public not to politicize the incident and called for cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar provided details about the sequence of events leading to the explosion, stating that the blast occurred an hour after the suspect, a man aged 28 to 30, left the cafe after placing the bag with an improvised explosive device (IED) near a tree adjacent to the cafe.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has taken charge of the investigation, with multiple teams actively pursuing leads to identify the accused. The blast, initially thought to have originated in the kitchen, was later confirmed to have occurred in the customer area. The suspect’s actions, captured on CCTV, included purchasing a coupon for Rava idli, leaving a bag with an IED, and exiting the restaurant an hour before the explosion.
