He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Originally from Tirupati, Dr. Peramsetty was a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sri Venkateswara Medical College. He specialized in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine, working not only in Tuscaloosa but also in other locations. His contributions to healthcare were widely recognized, and he played a significant role during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering critical medical care and advice to his community.

The Crimson Care Network, which he co-founded, confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement on Facebook, expressing their grief and requesting privacy for his family during this difficult time. “We have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family asks for privacy as they grieve. We will continue to honor him as he would want us to,” the statement read. They also assured the community that their clinics would remain open as they navigated this challenging period.

Dr. Peramsetty’s impact extended beyond medicine. In his hometown in Andhra Pradesh, he generously donated funds to Menakuru High School and supported the construction of a Sai temple in his village. His contributions to both his homeland and his adopted country were profound.

In Tuscaloosa, his legacy is marked by a street named in his honor, recognizing his efforts in transforming a neglected area into a bustling medical district. Dr. Peramsetty is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all residing in the U.S.
