Indian engineer Sebin Saji has achieved a Guinness World Record for designing the smallest operational washing machine in the world, which measures only 1.28 by 1.32 by 1.52 inches.

Sebin Saji has astonished everyone by inventing an unconventional device that a tech enthusiast might never consider developing—the world’s tiniest operational washing machine, which is even smaller than a Tamagotchi, the beloved handheld toy from the 1990s.

The washing machine, though compact, operates much like a full-sized model; however, it is specifically intended for very small loads.

In a video, Sebin has demonstrated his machine, adding a small amount of washing powder and water before sealing it and starting the cycle.

To earn the title from the Guinness World Records, he was required to design and build a washing machine, followed by a demonstration of its ability to complete a full cycle: washing, rinsing, and spinning.

He utilized specialized digital calipers for precise measurements.

“His little appliance, which he unveiled in Kanjirapally, Kerala, India, on 19 April, is even smaller than a Tamagotchi. And it weighs just 25 g, which is just slightly heavier than two OREO cookies. Sebin said he set out to create his record-breaking machine as a way of fulfilling his dream to become “part of the Guinness World Records team,” says the Guinnesworldrecords.com website.

A gathering of spectators assembled to witness his display of engineering prowess, and applause erupted upon the announcement of the measurements.

In the realm of miniature creations, Guinness World Records offers a plethora of astonishing feats. Take Gowrishankar Gummadidhala from Telangana, for example, who has fashioned the world’s tiniest spoon. This minuscule tool is so small that an ant can easily grasp it. For context, the wooden spoon measures a mere 4.5mm (0.18 inches) in length.

A new vacuum cleaner, recognized as the smallest in the world, has recently been developed in India, with a measurement of only 0.65 cm (0.25 in) at its shortest axis.
