Indian Railways to Debut Vande Bharat Metro Train After Successful Trials
Indian Railways is on the verge of a new breakthrough as it prepares to launch the country’s first Vande Bharat Metro train, following the impressive reception of its Vande Bharat trains. This upcoming metro service is expected to revolutionize urban transit, with trial runs already underway and set to conclude shortly.
As anticipation builds, the public eagerly awaits details on ticket pricing. Although specific fare information has yet to be officially released, insiders suggest that the cost for the Vande Bharat Metro will likely be lower than that of AC chair car services. Ticket prices are anticipated to vary by city, but initial plans aim to keep fares affordable to maximize passenger access.
In a significant expansion of its network, Indian Railways will connect around 124 cities with this new metro service. The finalized routes include key corridors such as Agra-Delhi, Tirupati-Chennai, Delhi-Moradabad, Bhubaneswar-Balasore, Delhi-Rewari, Agra-Mathura, and Lucknow-Kanpur. This extensive network is expected to enhance connectivity across major regions.
Railway officials say the Vande Bharat Metro combines features of both the Metro and the Vande Bharat Express trains. There are currently 52 Vande Bharat Express trains running in India. The Vande Bharat Metro is designed to accelerate quickly, reaching 100 km/h in just 45 to 47 seconds, faster than the Express’s 52 seconds. However, it will travel at a maximum speed of 130 km/h, slower than the Express’s top speed of 180 km/h. This is because the Metro will stop at stations that are closer together, so it doesn’t need to go as fast.
The Vande Bharat Metro initiative is drawing substantial interest due to its anticipated benefits and innovative approach. The real measure of success will be how well the service is received by commuters once it begins operations.
