India’s biggest wildlife transit treatment center to come up in Bavdhan

A transit Treatment Center (TTC) is being set up by forest department in Bavdhan

A Transit Treatment Center (TTC) is being set up at Bavdhan by the forest department to provide timely treatment for injured animals. This will give a new identity to Bavdhan. The work for this treatment center is in progress which will host a wild animals’ orphanage and a treatment center too.

Forest department has planned to start a wild animal orphanage and treatment center in a 22-acre plot located at Bavdhan. This center will be a center for animals rescued from Pune district and adjoining areas, Similarly, because of this center Bavdhan will get a different identity.

Forest Officer Pradeep Sapkal said, “The current space is insufficient for wild animals getting treatment from Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad city and district along with different districts in west Maharashtra. The work for the hospital for animals is 50% complete. This treatment center situated on the border of Kothrud- Bavdhan, close to the National Defence Academy is about to start within this year. Peacocks, Deer get injured by stray dogs and to treat such injured wild animals trained staff will be available at this treatment center.”

“We are constructing this wild treatment center for wild animals where all wild life animals will get treated. This will help in wild life protection and conservation. This will be among the largest treatment centers and orphanages for wild animals in India,” said Rahul Patil, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Pune.  

Peculiarities of center

 ·         Veterinary hospital for animals.

·         Internal roads, joint roads.

·         Totally 16 units for different breeds of animals.

·         Well-equipped administrative building and veterinary hospital.

·         Feline group: For Tiger, leopard, and other cat category animals there are three units.

·         Canine Group: For fox, wolf and other dog family animals there are three units

·         Deer Group: Deer, Antelope, and other herbivores animals there will be one unit

·         Antelope Group: Sambar and different herbivores animals will be having one unit

·         Primates section: For monkeys and similar family animals three units.

·         Birds Section: two units will be there for birds.

·         Reptile Section: two units for snake and reptile animals.

·         Mammals section:  one unit for mammals like rabbits, squirrels etc.

·         Staff quarters will be there.

·         Entrance Gate and store and toilet block.

·         Shade for last rituals (burning shade) and post mortem unit for wild animals.
