The forest department found an injured Python in the Bhanwaj area of Khopoli on July 29. It was released into the wild after providing it with medical treatment.

As per information, while patrolling the Bhanwaj area in Khopoli early on July 29, Nitin Karade, Shital Salunkhe, and Santoshi Bastewad of the Forest Department heard birds chirping near a dense bush. When they looked more closely, they saw an injured python.

They informed Officer Bhagwan Dalvi and Forest Officer Rajendra Pawar about the situation at Khalapur Taluka. Following their advice, the injured python was safely transported to the Forest Department in Khopoli with the help of a snake expert Sonu Pawar.

After examining the snake, veterinarian Vishnu Kale suggested treating its wounds and keeping an eye on it for a while. Thus, Dinesh Oswal, Amol Thakekar, Navin More, Abhijit Gharat, Sukrit Gotaskar, and Vijay Bhosale assisted in caring for the python at Gurunath Sathelkar’s residence.

Following the forest officials’ guidance, snake enthusiasts Bhakti Sathelkar, Praveen Shendre, and others gave the python medicine and force-fed it in an attempt to help it regain strength. Due to this, the python recovered fully and showed signs of its natural aggression and impatience to be released. The python was returned to a secure environment following a last medical examination that verified its complete recovery.

Indian pythons inhabit a variety of environments, such as rainforests, river valleys, woodlands, scrublands, and semi-rocky foothills. They are typically found near water sources and prefer damp areas. Pythons play a crucial role in controlling rodent and other vertebrate populations, maintaining ecological balance in their habitats.
