Mumbai: In a bid to reduce the number of accidents on the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway, the Maharashtra government is installing a state-of-the-art Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), informed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, March 23 Fadnavis said that the new system will help regulate traffic and legal action will be taken against drivers who do not follow traffic rules.

“The missing link is also going to be completed. Also, action is being taken by the traffic police against those who do not follow the lane discipline,” Fadnavis said.

The announcement came in response to a question raised by Member Bhai Jagtap about measures being taken to reduce accidents on the old Mumbai-Pune National Highway.

In addition to Jagtap, other members including Aniket Tatkare, Mahadev Jankar, and Satej Patil raised questions.
