Influencer allegedly shared sensitive information after contact with Pakistani diplomat at Iftar dinner

A popular YouTuber from Hisar, Haryana, has been arrested on charges of espionage, exposing a wider network allegedly working for Pakistani intelligence. Jyoti Malhotra, who runs a travel vlog on YouTube with thousands of followers, is accused of sharing sensitive information with operatives linked to the Pakistan High Commission.

Contact at Diplomatic Event Led to Espionage Network
According to investigative agencies, Malhotra came into contact with a Pakistani national, identified as a staffer at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, during an Iftar dinner. The official, operating under an alias, is believed to have been cultivating sources in India for intelligence gathering.

Following the meeting, Malhotra reportedly maintained close contact with the official and later traveled to Pakistan in 2023 after securing a visa through private agents. During her visit, she is said to have been introduced to other Pakistani intelligence personnel. Investigators say her relationship with these individuals deepened over time.

Sensitive Locations Shared, Multiple Arrests Made
Authorities claim that Malhotra provided details about strategic locations, including sensitive zones in Jammu and Kashmir. Her digital footprint is also under scrutiny, as her travel vlogs include locations in Indonesia, China, and Pakistan. Agencies suspect that she may have acted as a medium for propaganda and information relay.

The arrest is part of a larger crackdown, with at least six Indian nationals detained for alleged links to Pakistani intelligence. One of the co-accused reportedly supplied Indian SIM cards and facilitated communication and fund transfers on behalf of handlers.

While Malhotra was seen attending high-profile events at the Pakistan High Commission, including social gatherings, officials emphasize that such settings are often used to lure unsuspecting individuals into deeper intelligence activities.

Authorities also noted that Malhotra had paid full fare on her international trips, ruling out any concessionary connections in her case. However, her access to certain high-security venues raised serious alarms.

Public Reaction and Further Investigation
The case has triggered concern over the possible misuse of social media and travel platforms for espionage. With a large digital following, Malhotra’s activities are being examined to assess whether she knowingly disseminated information or was manipulated by foreign agents.

Investigations are ongoing, and officials suggest that more arrests could follow as they unravel the full extent of the network. Malhotra remains in custody and is being questioned under provisions of the Official Secrets Act.
