Pune, October 13: The city of Pune has seen the arrival of the metro and the start of the river improvement project. While only foundation stones were laid during the Congress rule, it is the Modi government that is bringing these projects to life, thus transforming the city’s landscape, said Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol.

Mohol was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Kalagram,’ a cultural hub developed at the P. L. Deshpande Garden through the efforts of MLA Madhuri Misal held yesterday. The event was attended by Madhuri Misal, Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale, Deepak Misal, Dheeraj Ghate, Karan Misal, Shrikant Jagtap, and Kiran Thakur. Architect Teertha Misal was felicitated during the ceremony.

Mohol praised Pune for being a city of culture and artists, stating that the city has always provided platforms for artists to showcase their talents. He emphasized that ‘Kalagram’ would serve as a significant space for artists to present their work and connect with the public. He also noted that this grand addition would further enhance Pune’s art scene and boost tourism.

MLA Madhuri Misal expressed her delight, saying that with the creation of Kalagram, the dream of developing the full 50-acre area along Sinhagad Road has been fulfilled. She announced plans for a ‘P. L. Deshpande Katta,’ where the life and works of the legendary artist will be showcased.

Misal also highlighted the cultural diversity of Kalagram, which features handmade items made from bamboo and stone, folk art from various states, and a culinary experience with traditional foods. The area is designed to resemble a village, with 30 stalls, an amphitheater, a library, and open platforms for workshops.

The event was introduced by Rajendra Bhosale, with Milind Kulkarni handling the anchoring.
