Pune: Residents of Kalyani Nagar are troubled by various banners, flex, hoardings, etc put at Gold Adlabs Chowk.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Aruna Suratkal, a resident of Kalyani Nagar, said, “These posters, flex, etc aren’t supposed to be put anywhere as they are banned and are illegal. Such flex & banners are made of materials like plastic etc which are not recyclable. We don’t need to know whose birthday it is & all. Due to these, driving also gets affected. These are put on public property like electrical poles, trees, etc which is not fair.”

Rachna Agarwal, another resident of Kalyani Nagar said, “Why are these hoardings, etc put up in the first place as they are not legal? It is simply for displaying political power. The entire area becomes ugly due to these. When we talk to the political parties regarding this, they say that someone without our knowledge has put it up and all. PMC doesn’t take any action for this even after complaining.”

Monica S, another resident of Kalyani Nagar said, “The rampant use of flex banners, posters, and signage on roads and footpaths has become a major concern for our community. Not only do they pose a safety hazard for pedestrians and motorists, but they also contribute to environmental pollution and harm public health. We urge the authorities to take strict action against those who violate the rules and regulations regarding the use of these materials.”

Aaditya Patil, a resident of Kalyani Nagar said, “The health consequences of an excess of banners are more profound than one might realize at first glance. The stress and visual discomfort they generate can lead to headaches and eye strain, emphasizing the need for a cleaner, more visually appealing environment that supports our overall well-being. PMC should consider imposing substantial fines on those who disregard these guidelines.”

Hasham Patel, an official of the Sky Sign Department, PMC Wadgaon Sheri said, “We will go to the place, inspect & remove the flex & hoardings.”
