Pune, July 17, 2026: A Pune court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, the two accused in the alleged murder of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, by another 14 days. Both accused were produced before the court through video conferencing after completing their earlier period of judicial custody.

The case relates to Ketan Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort on June 18. While the incident was initially treated as an accidental fall, the investigation later took a significant turn after Pune Rural Police alleged that Ketan was deliberately pushed off a cliff as part of a planned murder conspiracy.

According to the police, Siya Goyal, who was engaged to Ketan in February and was expected to marry him later this year, allegedly conspired with her purported partner, Chetan Chaudhary, to kill him. Investigators claim Siya wanted to end the relationship with Ketan and was involved with Chetan.

After spending 10 days in police custody, both accused were sent to 14 days of judicial custody on July 3. With that period ending, the court has now extended their judicial custody by another two weeks as the investigation continues.

During the hearing, the court also heard applications filed by Chetan Chaudhary’s defence. His lawyer argued that Chetan had been brought to the Pune Rural Superintendent of Police’s office during the early hours of June 23, several hours before the FIR was officially registered at noon, and sought to have his detention declared illegal. The court, however, rejected the plea.

The court did, however, partly allow another application filed by the defence seeking preservation of CCTV footage from the Pune Rural SP office in Pashan. It directed the police to preserve and produce CCTV recordings from the entry, exit and lobby areas covering the period from the intervening night of June 22 and 23 until midnight of June 23 within 15 days.

The CCTV footage is expected to form part of the ongoing legal proceedings as Pune Rural Police continue their investigation into the high-profile murder case.
