Google Photos now offers a new feature called ‘Highlight videos’, which allows users to transform their favourite memories into a captivating video. This platform has gained immense popularity in recent years, serving as a substitute for the Gallery app on numerous Android smartphones.
Initially designed as a backup solution for photos and videos, Google has transformed the Photos app into an impressive AI-powered tool, incorporating various useful features such as Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur.
In addition to these functionalities, Google has recently introduced the ability to create ‘Highlight videos’ using selected photos and videos.
According to a reports, the new ‘Highlight videos’ feature in Google Photos replaces the previously available movie maker functionality. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, Google Photos can automatically suggest the most suitable clips to include in the video, while also adding soundtracks and synchronizing the visuals with the music.
Alternatively, users have the option to manually customize their videos using the editor. This allows them to manually trim and rearrange the clips according to their personal preferences.
To utilize Highlight videos in Google Photos, follow these steps:
1. Open the Google Photos app and locate the “Sharing” tab. Adjacent to it, you will find a new icon represented by a “+”.
2. Tap on this icon to reveal a menu with various options, including Collage, Album, Animation, Highlight video, and Cinematic Photo.
3. Choose the option for Highlight video, which will redirect you to the editor interface.
4. From here, select the desired photos and clips that you wish to include in the video. Allow the Al (Artificial Intelligence) to perform its automated editing process, resulting in a 1-minute clip. Additionally, preset music will be added to enhance the video.
5. Once the clip is generated, you will be taken back to the editor interface. Here, you have the ability to manually trim and rearrange the clips according to your preference.
6. After finalizing the editing process, you can either save or share the video.
The availability of the Highlight videos feature is gradually expanding to both Android and iOS versions of the app.
If you are unable to access it, kindly check for any pending updates. It is important to mention that there is no information regarding the rollout of this feature on the web version of Google Photos.
