Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) recently carried out a large-scale encroachment removal drive in the Kudulwadi-Chikhali area. While BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has supported action against illegal scrap businesses and unauthorized commercial establishments that contribute to pollution and security concerns, he has strongly opposed the indiscriminate demolition that has affected small entrepreneurs and local residents.

The encroachment drive, which began on February 8 and continued until February 17, 2025, resulted in the clearance of 4,111 illegal structures, covering approximately 827 acres (3.6 crore square feet). As a result, nearly 100 acres of municipal land designated for roads and public reservations have been freed from encroachment.

MLA Landge emphasized that while illegal businesses harming the Indrayani River and contributing to pollution, crime, and traffic congestion must be shut down, the loss faced by 559 small businesses and local landowners cannot be justified. He assured that he would bring the matter to the state government during the upcoming budget session.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the authorities for supporting the drive, Landge clarified that social media silence was maintained during the operation to avoid law-and-order issues or communal tensions. However, he now openly demands justice for affected small entrepreneurs and residents, pledging to take up their concerns with the municipal administration and the state government.
