Lahu Kale earns recognition in Limca Book Of Records for drawing 4341 pocket cartoons

Lahu Kale, a fifty year old art teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya School in Lulla Nagar has been drawing cartoons not just as a hobby to spread social awareness. His satirical way of expressing current affairs has earned him recognition in many national and international level. He was recently awarded a certificate for having 4314 Pocket Cartoons published in one singly newspaper, Agrowon, consistently for 13 years. His work mainly includes on focusing Farmers and Rural life and depicting their problems, their way of life through Pocket Cartoons.

A resident of Sankalp society in Wadachi Wadi in Undri, Kale said, “My work mainly consists of spreading social awareness. Never in my life for the last 13 years that I am drawing pocket cartoons, I have given any negative perspective. My aim is to uplift the mindset of farmers who are already going through a lot.”

Kale’s rare feat has earned him many mentions, such as India Book of Record, 2018, Asia Book Of Records in 2019 and Krishi Patrakarita Puraskar from Vasantrao Naik Pratishthan. This award was handed over my senior political leader Sharad Pawar.

Kale hails from Beed district’s Neknoor village and hence can easily connect with the farmer’s life. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in the year 1991 from Aurangabad and further got a job in K V School. He draws inspiration from late cartoonist R K Laxman. So far he has completed more than 4500 pocket cartoons. He says, “I enjoy my work as it lets me express my feelings, approach in life. I feel this is a very responsible tool in spreading social awareness among masses.”
