An incident involving an attempt to crush a man under a car over a land dispute occurred in Kendur village, Shirur Taluka. According to the police, a case has been registered against the driver involved.

The accused, Vinayak Sadashiv Thite from Kendur, along with eight others, allegedly attacked Rajendra Nathu Thite during a confrontation. Rajendra sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Shikrapur. Originally from Kendur, Rajendra has ancestral land in the village, where he recently started construction on an old family property after demolishing the existing structure about seven to eight months ago. During this time, Rajendra had relocated an electric meter from the old house to a nearby Jamun tree on his land. However, Vinayak later placed a metal sheet near the meter on the tree.

On November 1, Rajendra, along with his wife Anita, son Akash, and daughter Pratibha, visited the property and noticed the metal sheet by the meter. When they tried to move it, Vinayak, his wife Vrushali, and other family members confronted them, claiming ownership of the land and demanding an explanation for moving the metal sheet. This led to a physical altercation. During the scuffle, Pratibha recorded the incident on her mobile, but the accused allegedly pushed her and snatched her phone.

As Rajendra and his family left, Vinayak reportedly followed them in his car and struck Rajendra from behind, attempting to run him over. Sensing danger, Rajendra climbed onto the car’s bonnet and was dragged some distance before the car stopped. Rajendra later filed a complaint with the police, who have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
