Legendary Italian Designer Giorgio Armani Passes Away At 91
Milan, September 4, 2025: Famed Italian fashion icon Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91 following age-related health complications, his fashion house announced on Thursday. Widely admired as “Re Giorgio” (King Giorgio), Armani transformed global fashion with his understated, elegant designs that defined modern Italian style.
In a statement, the Armani Group expressed deep grief, calling him the “founder and tireless driving force” behind the globally renowned brand.
Armani had been in poor health for some time and, for the first time in his career, was unable to attend his group’s shows at Milan Men’s Fashion Week this June. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, he personally supervised every stage of his collections, from design to presentation.
His influence stretched beyond the runway—combining creative vision with strong business acumen, Armani built a fashion empire with annual revenues exceeding €2.3 billion.
The company announced that a public funeral chamber will be open in Milan on September 6 and 7, followed by a private ceremony at a later date.
Armani leaves behind a legacy of redefining elegance and simplicity in fashion, inspiring generations of designers and shaping the industry for decades.
