More than 100 constituencies are all set to cast their votes today for their respective leaders. Google has created a doodle with an inked finger which signifies the democratic election process of India and urges citizens to cast their vote.

Google recently created a doodle logo for its webpage, which showcased an inked finger signifying the first phase of 2024 elections in India. The logo is also a link which features top stories related to Lok Sabha election polls. The designer of the doodle has not been named. 

As elections in the world’s largest democracy kick off today on 19th April 2024, citizens will be able to use their right to vote and support their desired candidate. A total of 102 Lok Sabha constituencies will be going to the polls today as planned for the first phase. 

The election will be held in seven different phases, starting with the first phase today. The election will be concluded by 1st June 2024 in India. The highest number of constituencies are reportedly going to polls in the first phase itself. 

For today, constituencies such as 39 Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu, 5 seats from Uttarakhand, 12 seats in Rajasthan and 8 crucial seats in the Western parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as 6 seats in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled for polls in the first phase of elections. 

As per the information about candidates who will be contesting elections this time, there are a total of 1,625 candidates out of which 1,491 are men and 134 are women. 

Alongside this, elections will also be held in states which have been affected by ethnic violence such as Manipur as well as Naxal-hit areas of Bastar in Chhattisgarh. Elections will be held twice in Manipur, once today, 19th April 2024, and secondly on 26th April 2024, which will be part of the second phase of elections. 

Polling is also scheduled to take place in Arunachal Pradesh  for the 92 Assembly seats as well as Sikkim, which is currently holding Assembly elections.
