Pune: Residents of Parsi Colony in Lulla Nagar are troubled by frequent power cuts and voltage fluctuations that happen every day in the area causing issues in their electrical appliances and daily lives.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Farzan Irani, a resident of Parsi Colony, Lulla Nagar said, “The issue of voltage fluctuations as well as power cuts has been going on for several years. Due to the constant voltage fluctuations, the entire impact comes on the electricity UPS, which creates problems with the electrical connections. Due to this, several gadgets, appliances etc running on electricity can’t be used. We have filed several complaints with the MSEB but nothing has happened yet.”

Saroash Bharucha, another resident of Parsi Colony, Lulla Nagar said, “This long-standing electricity cut issue has been on the rise prominently since the last 1 or 2 months. What happens is power is cut off and restored after every 1 or 2 minutes. Due to this, I have to incur several huge losses from time to time as my television was damaged internally. I had to spend Rs 10,000 for its repair. Then, my electrical watch stopped working because of it. We have complained to the MSEB about this numerous times but it appears that the complaint has fallen on deaf ears.”

Parizad Kathawala, another resident of Parsi Colony, Lulla Nagar said, “Power cuts happen a lot in our area. Especially in the rainy season, the issue has increased. Every day, electricity is restored and cut off frequently within minutes. We cannot use our electrical appliances live television etc. We have complained a lot of times in the electric department but nothing has happened so far.”

Speaking about the issue, Nishikant Raut, PRO, MSEDCL Pune said, “We have understood the location. We are sending an official to the area to inspect and resolve this issue soon.”
