With the central government accelerating the Pune Metro Phase 2 expansion, Maha-Metro has invited bids to appoint a detailed design consultant (DDC) for 14 elevated stations on the Kharadi-Khadakwasla and Nal Stop-Manik Baug corridors.

The project includes eight stations from Deshpande Udyan to Khadakwasla on the Kharadi-Khadakwasla corridor and six stations from Nal Stop to Daulat Nagar on the Nal Stop-Manik Baug corridor. The consultant will be responsible for designing station architecture, structural elements, electrical and mechanical systems, fire safety measures, plumbing, noise control, solar panel integration, and compliance with green building standards.

Additionally, Maha-Metro is exploring commercial opportunities within these stations, such as retail spaces, advertising panels, and kiosks, to generate additional revenue. The feasibility of constructing an extra floor above or below the platform for commercial use will also be assessed.

The Pune Metro Phase 2 expansion covers 31.64 km, with an estimated cost of ₹9,897.19 crore. The Kharadi-Khadakwasla corridor spans 25.518 km with 22 elevated stations, while the Nal Stop-Manik Baug corridor covers 6.118 km with six stations. Maha-Metro officials recently held discussions in the national capital to fast-track the proposal.

Maha-Metro has also requested coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to ensure seamless planning in metro-influenced areas. The design work for the stations is expected to commence soon.
