The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of this Metro Neo route is being prepared and will soon be submitted to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

A letter was sent to MLA Laxman Jagtap by Mahametro, in this regard as Jagtap has raised the issue of metro route expansion from Pimpri to Nigdi and Hinjewadi to Chakan many times with the central and state governments as well as with Mahametro.
Due to the growing population of Pimpri-Chinchwad as well as increasing industrialization in the city and surrounding rural areas, effective public transport is necessary.

Mahametro has also clarified in the letter that the HCMTR route from Nashik Phata to Bhosari will be a part of the Metro Neo route.

What is Metro Neo ?

A tier 2 or 3 city in India has an average of 5,000 to 15,000 passengers during peak hours. Metro Neo is a public transport solution with the capacity to carry this number of passengers. Coaches, facilities, stations and everything else of this Metro Neo is similar to Metro.
The only thing that differs is that Neo metro runs on rubber tires while Metro runs on tracks. Each coach of Neo Metro has a capacity of 180 to 250 passengers and has three coaches attached. The cost of Neo metro is comparatively less than the actual cost required for metro projects.
