The Indian automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with a growing emphasis on electric vehicles. This shift has attracted the attention of global automotive giants, including Tesla, who are exploring opportunities to enter the Indian market.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, is excited about Tesla coming to India and thinks Maharashtra is the perfect place for them. He said, “We hope Tesla comes. If they ask us, we’ll say Maharashtra is the best place to invest.” He also pointed out how quickly Maharashtra’s industry is growing, especially in Navi Mumbai, which is becoming a center for modern manufacturing. He said, “You’ll see Industry 4.0 in Navi Mumbai.”

Fadnavis also acknowledged that other Indian states are competing for investment but said he’s happy for all of India. He said, “If Gujarat grows, I’m happy. If Karnataka grows, I’m happy too. After all, investment is coming to India.”

He emphasized Maharashtra’s economic goals, saying they’re still working towards becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030. “In 2016-17, we started talking about a $1 trillion economy. Maharashtra is the only state that has reached half a trillion dollars.”

He also highlighted Maharashtra’s leadership in finance and data technology. “Maharashtra is the real center for fintech and data. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is setting up its global headquarters in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), making Mumbai even stronger as a financial hub.”
