Pune: In a bid to raise awareness about women’s safety, a large-scale bike rally was organized by Zone 5 of Pune Police on March 8, 2025. The event, held under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, saw the participation of over 232 women riders and 116 female police personnel. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 232 women riders and 116 female police personnel. 

The rally commenced at 10:30 AM from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 5 and covered key areas of Pune. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of women’s empowerment and safety in urban spaces. Senior police officials and social activists actively supported the event, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to ensure a secure environment for women.

The rally saw participation of 232 women police officials on 116 motorbikes. The rally was flagged off by film actor Pushkar Jog, Prajakta Gaikwad and Sangeeta Tarade from Wanowrie’s Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan. The rally was held under guidance of Dr Rajkumar Shinde, DCP, Zone 5, Pune Police. 

Participants in the rally rode through major city roads, spreading messages about self-defense, education, and gender equality. Addressing the gathering, senior police officers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening law enforcement efforts for women’s safety.

The Zone 5 police department has urged citizens to join hands in making Pune a safer city for women, calling for more community-driven initiatives to promote awareness and security.
