Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that the state government has approved the establishment of 11 new police stations—seven in Pune and four in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This decision aims to bolster law enforcement infrastructure in the rapidly growing urban regions of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

In Pune, new police stations will be set up in Nanded City, Baner, Kalepadal, Phursungi, Kharadi, Ambegaon, and Wagholi. Meanwhile, Pimpri-Chinchwad will see new stations in Sant Tukaram Nagar, Dapodi, Kalewadi, and Bavdhan. These additions will enhance the current policing framework in both cities. Pune already has 32 police stations, including a specialized unit for cybercrimes, while Pimpri-Chinchwad operates with 18 police stations, including its own cybercrime unit.

Ajit Pawar made this announcement during a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) rally in Chakan, where he also inaugurated several infrastructure projects totaling ₹550 crore. He highlighted the government’s continued investment in law enforcement, mentioning the ₹50 crore allocated over the past three years for new police vehicles and upgrades.
