Maharashtra : Restricted movements at forts, tourists places in Pune to curb spread of Covid19

The Pune district Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh today, on January 11, 2022 informed that all forts, tourists pplaces, historical monuments, memorials, dams shall allow restricted movement of tourists. The forest department too earlier had issued a circular notifying the closure of tourist places, forts, historical monuments, memorials, dams on January 8, 2022 across the state.

Pune rural Superintendent of Police too had suggested several spots in its jurisdiction of Maval, Mulshi, Haveli, Junnar, Bhor and Velha, all historical monuments, forts, memorial, tourist places, dam attracts lot of citizens / travellers. The number of visitors is high on weekends (friday/ saturday /sunday). Since, a lot of these places have eateries, stalls, where people gather, it is found that Covid Appropriate Behaviour is not followed and in view of the increasing Covid19 Omicron spread, the government departments have decided to restrict movements of tourists till further notice.

Dr Rajesh Deshmukh in the circular stated that as per the District Disaster Management Authority under Disaster Management Act 2005  and IPC Section 1973, section 144 (1), (3) imposed restrictons.

Over 30 tourist places in Pune rural closed for tourists

1. Maval – Bhushi dam, Ghubad talav, Lonavla dam, Tungarli dam, Rajmachi point, Monkey point, Amrutanjan bridge, Walvan dam,  Vehergaon, Tiger point, Lion point, Shivling point, Karla and Bhaje caves, Lohgad fort, Tung fort, Visapur fort, Tikona fort, Pavana dam.

2. Mulshi – LAvasa, Temghar dam, Mulshi dam area, Pimpri Dari point, Sahara city, Kalwan area

3. Haveli – Gehra Sinhagad, Sinhagad fort, Donje, Khadakwasla dam area

4. Ambegaon – Dimbhe Dam, Ahupe

5. Junnar – Shivneri fort, Sawand fort, Hadsar fort, Ambe Hatweej, Vadaj dam, Manikdoh dam, Bibta Niwara Kendra

6. Bhor – Rohideshwar, Vichitra fort, Rayreshwar fort, Bhatghar dam, NeeaDevghar dam, Ambavade, BHort rajwada, Malhargad

7. Velha – Torna fort, Rajgad fort, Panshet dam, Varasgaon dam. 

The District collector issued below orders restricting movements in the one kilometer area of the historical monuments, dams, tourists places, memorials, etc.

1) Five or more persons will not be allowed to gather at the above-mentioned areas.

2) Drinking and entering in an intoxicated state in the areas, carryin alcohol, consumption, selling of alcohol is prohibited

3) Stopping vehicles on dangerous roads and at high risk places.

4) Reckless driving and overtaking vehicles from wrong sides.

5) Do not litter and deface these monuments by throwing food, glass bottles, plastic bags or bottles, etc.

6) Harassing women in public places, making gestures, slandering or doing anything that would cause embarrassment.

7) Playing loud music in public places, other nusical systems which will cause sound pollution is not allowed.

8) Avoid any action which will cause air, sound, water pollution.
