Maharashtra Shivers as Cold Wave Set to Intensify from Tuesday; IMD Issues Weather Alert for Several Regions
Weather Alert: Sunday Weather Shift Brings New Advisory for Mumbai–Pune
Maharashtra, Nov 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for Maharashtra, predicting a further drop in minimum temperatures from Tuesday, November 11. The state has begun to experience a noticeable chill following the post-monsoon rains earlier this month, with clear skies now dominating across most regions.
In Mumbai, the weather will remain mostly clear with maximum temperatures around 33°C and minimum temperatures near 19°C. Residents are already beginning to feel mild winter conditions during the night. Similar weather patterns are expected in other Konkan districts, where temperatures are stable but slightly lower than average.
Pune will continue to enjoy its signature “pink winter” as temperatures dip further. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31°C, while the minimum could drop to 14°C. Western Maharashtra districts will experience comparable weather conditions.
The coldest conditions are being recorded in North Maharashtra, especially in Nashik and Jalgaon, where the minimum temperature has fallen to 10°C. IMD forecasts that the cold will persist, with temperatures remaining between 10°C and 12°C in the region on November 11.
In Marathwada, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, and Parbhani, temperatures have dipped to 12°C, indicating a clear onset of a cold wave. A slight rise of about one degree Celsius is expected on November 11.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha is also witnessing a sharp fall in temperatures, with the mercury ranging between 13°C and 15°C. Many residents have started lighting bonfires to stay warm during the chilly nights.
The IMD predicts a shift in weather after November 15, with minimum temperatures likely to rise by 2–3°C across the state. However, until then, Maharashtra is expected to remain under the grip of a cold wave.
