Maharashtra Weather Alert: Orange Warning for Kolhapur & Sangli, Rain and Winds to Sweep Across Region
Pune Rain Update: Heavy Showers Lash District, Bhushi Dam Overflows, IMD Issues Orange Alert
Maharashtra is in for another burst of intense weather as the monsoon slowly advances. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for various districts across the state, warning of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds over the next 24 hours.
Kolhapur, Sangli on Orange Alert: Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Expected
Kolhapur and Sangli are on high alert as the IMD has sounded an orange warning. Thunderstorms with heavy rain and wind speeds reaching 40–50 km/h are forecast for both districts. Daytime temperatures are expected to stay around 32°C, with lows near 24°C. Residents are advised to stay indoors during lightning spells and avoid venturing out unless necessary.
Yellow Alert in Satara: Heavy Showers with Thunderstorms
Satara district is also set for turbulent weather. A yellow alert has been issued as the region braces for heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Temperatures here are hovering around 31.8°C. While not as severe as an orange alert, authorities have urged caution, particularly for those traveling through hilly terrain or working in the fields.
Solapur to Cool Down as Rain Moves In
Solapur will see some relief from the heat, with the mercury likely to dip to 28°C. However, a yellow alert signals the arrival of heavy rainfall in the region. Waterlogging in low-lying areas and temporary traffic disruptions are possible, so locals are advised to remain alert.
Pune Weather to Remain Mild with Light Rainfall
Compared to other districts, Pune’s weather remains relatively stable. The city recorded a maximum of 30.7°C in the past 24 hours, and only light showers are expected. However, sudden evening spells and cloudy conditions may still catch residents off guard.
Monsoon Set to Pick Up Pace Across Central and Eastern India
While the monsoon’s progress has been slow over the past two weeks, IMD officials say conditions are becoming favorable for its advancement into Central and Eastern India starting Saturday. This shift is also likely to bring increased rainfall across parts of Maharashtra in the coming days.
Residents across affected districts are advised to monitor local weather updates and follow safety advisories issued by the authorities.
