June 6, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting moderate rain and thunderstorms for Mumbai and Pune from June 6 to June 10. The forecast indicates partly cloudy skies, with light to moderate showers, especially in Mumbai’s Santacruz region, where rainfall is expected to continue through June 10.

Pune is also likely to experience cloudy skies with sporadic rainfall, while temperatures across both cities are expected to range between 25°C to 33°C.

Meanwhile, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and parts of central Maharashtra may experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. Districts like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Beed, and Latur have been issued a cautionary alert.

In Konkan, IMD has predicted light to moderate showers with chances of thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated areas, including Raigad, which may receive brief spells of rain over the next 3–4 hours.

The monsoon made an early onset over Maharashtra this year, arriving on May 26, bringing record-breaking rain in Pune. The city recorded 257.9 mm of rain by May-end, surpassing the previous May record of 148.8 mm set in 1961.

Elsewhere in the country, Northeast India is expected to witness heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya between June 9 to 12, while Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram will also see widespread showers.

On the other hand, heatwave conditions are forecast in West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from June 8 to 10.

According to the IMD, India is likely to receive 106% of the long-period average monsoon rainfall between June and September, promising a strong monsoon season across most regions.
