The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) announced on January 18 that it will hold open house sessions every month outside Mumbai to assist real estate developers in registering their projects. The first such open house will take place on January 22 in Nagpur.

Developers often face challenges when seeking clarification during the project registration process with MahaRERA. To address this, MahaRERA has been hosting weekly open houses at its Mumbai office, where senior officials answer queries. However, developers in regions outside Mumbai, particularly in Nagpur and Pune, had requested similar support. In response, MahaRERA will extend the facility to these cities, starting with Nagpur.

Additionally, MahaRERA recently reduced the minimum requirement for Self-Regulating Organizations (SROs) in areas outside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) from 500 projects to 200, allowing more real estate associations across the state to form SROs. This move aims to streamline the project registration process and provide better support to developers.

Since its inception in May 2017, MahaRERA has approved over 48,000 projects in Maharashtra, with around 225 projects in the union territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli. The open houses are part of MahaRERA’s ongoing efforts to make the project registration process more efficient and user-friendly.

Manoj Saunik, Chairman of MahaRERA, emphasized that these open houses are designed to answer developers’ queries in person, ensuring a smoother experience for project registration.
