Mansukh Mandviya to hold meeting on Covid19 situation in India today

The health experts also mentioned that there is no need to panic as the country’s health system is vigilant. 

Union health minister Mansukh Mandviya will hold a meeting with senior officials and experts on the Covid19 situation in the country on Wednesday, December 21. The decision to hold the meeting was taken in view of the sudden spurt in cases being witnessed in Japan, USA, Korea, China and Brazil. Also, the government is planning to gear up the whole genome sequencing of positive case samples to track variants through the Indian SARS-Cov-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) network, stated Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan to states and Union Territories.

The union health secretary informed that all states are requested to ensure that all samples of all positive cases on a daily basis must be sent to designated INSACOG Genome Sequencing Laboratories (IGSLs) in States and UT’s.
