Marathi Actress Rujuta Deshmukh Raises Concerns Over Double Toll Charging on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

PUNE: Rujuta Deshmukh, a well-known Marathi actress, has taken to social media to share her recent experience of being charged toll twice while traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
In a video shared online, Rujuta expressed her frustration, saying, “Although I’ve been in Mumbai for nearly 25 years, I frequently visit Pune where my parents and in-laws reside. Sometimes, my family and I take the car to travel there, making a stop at Lonavala. On July 31, we drove to Pune and received a toll notification message.”
She continued, “The toll at Khalapur was Rs 240, and at Talegaon, it was Rs 80. However, when we returned to Mumbai, my husband and I were shocked to receive messages indicating that we had been charged twice – Rs 240 and Rs 240 again. I immediately filed a complaint and submitted the required documents via email. To my disappointment, there was no response.”
Rujuta went on to describe her conversation with the toll gate manager, “On August 1, I decided to address the issue in person and spoke to the manager. I explained that we always exit at Lonavala to get onto the expressway. They justified the toll charges by stating that Mumbai to Lonavala is Rs 240, and Lonavala to Pune is another Rs 240.”

She continued, “I was informed that this double toll charging has been in effect since the introduction of the Fast Tag system two years ago. Despite having used Fast Tag on my previous trips to Pune, I was never charged this way before. Even the mail complaint yielded no response.”
Rujuta took her concerns to social media, tagging Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the state government in her Instagram post, seeking resolution for the issue she and other travelers have encountered on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
As of now, there has been no official response from the authorities regarding Rujuta’s complaint.
