Pune: The Bharat Flag Foundation has voiced its concerns over the use of Indian flags manufactured in China and has called for a complete ban on such flags.

In anticipation of the upcoming 77th Indian Independence Day on August 15, 2023, plans are underway to distribute tricolor flags to every household as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (Flag in Every Home) initiative. However, Girish Murudkar, the Founder President of the Bharat Flag Foundation, along with Executive President Rahul Bhalerao, has emphasized the importance of preserving the sanctity of the national flag by refraining from using flags that are produced in China.

Flag production in India involves a diverse range of artisans, impoverished families, and small-scale factories, often with the involvement of women in self-help groups. The influx of Chinese-made flags into the market could potentially disrupt these local businesses. Many local self-governing bodies and social organizations are distributing free flags to promote patriotism. It is imperative that these initiatives ensure the flags they provide are not sourced from China.

The Bharat Flag Foundation, through its initiative ‘Murudkar Zendewale’, is distributing pamphlets containing guidelines and information regarding the Indian Flag Code at no cost. Additionally, free collection boxes for used flags will be made available. The foundation fervently appeals to all citizens to uphold the spirit of Independence Day by refraining from using Chinese-made flags.
