Over the last 48 hours, several regions across Maharashtra have experienced intense rainfall, often accompanied by storms, resulting in significant damage in numerous areas.

In a devastating incident near Satara, a 17-year-old student at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) lost his life, while two others sustained injuries, following a lightning strike on an electric scooter. The tragedy unfolded on the evening of 11th May, Saturday, in the Sarde village area.

The deceased, identified as Gyaneshwar Dhole from Ahmednagar district, was one of three students from the nearby ITI riding the scooter in heavy rainfall. Without warning, lightning struck the vehicle, inflicting severe damage and tragically claiming Dhole’s life.

The two injured students, identified as Vikram Dhaygude and Prathamesh Bhise, were promptly rushed to a hospital in Baramati for urgent medical attention. Their conditions remain unknown at the time of reporting.

The sudden and shocking nature of the incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
