Pune: Amidst a spurt in the number of vector-borne diseases like dengue, and malaria in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued notices to 1,260 sites regarding mosquito breeding sites.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Bhagwan Pawar, Health Officer, PMC Health Department said, “We are relentlessly doing the exercise of eliminating a common cause of vector-borne diseases in the city i.e. mosquito breeding sites. We are constantly issuing notices to such places since January 2023. An integrated team of PMC officials is working to keep a check on mosquito breeding sites in Pune.”

As per information, so far, the PMC has collected a fine of Rs 1,59,600 from such sites in Pune.

The PMC has appealed to Punekars to not store water in open spaces for more than three days as if done so, it becomes a prime reason for mosquito breeding. Hence, water stored in houses in open spaces must be changed every three days without fail.
