Massive Fire Erupts at Dyeing Factory in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra; No Casualties Reported
A massive fire broke out late Friday night at a dyeing factory located in the Kamatghar area of Bhiwandi, in Maharashtra’s Thane district. The incident occurred around 10 PM, just ahead of the Anant Chaturdashi celebrations, a day when thousands of Ganesh devotees take to the streets for the final visarjan (immersion) of Lord Ganesha idols.
As thick smoke and flames engulfed the factory premises, local authorities were immediately alerted. Fire tenders rushed to the site and began extensive firefighting operations, which continued through the night. Officials confirmed that two fire engines remained at the scene to control the blaze, and thankfully, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
The fire, which reportedly intensified due to the presence of highly flammable cloth materials inside the dyeing unit, raised serious safety concerns in the area. While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials have not ruled out an electrical fault or short circuit. Fortunately, the swift response from the fire department helped prevent the situation from escalating further, especially given the potential risk to nearby structures and residential zones.

This incident comes on a significant day for the state, as the final day of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, also known as Ganeshotsav, is being celebrated across Maharashtra. Bhiwandi, though not as widely covered in mainstream headlines as Mumbai, remains an important industrial hub in the region, with many textile and dyeing units like the one involved in Friday’s fire. The timing of the blaze—on the eve of a major public celebration—added to the urgency of the response from emergency services.
