Mercer's Survey Ranks Pune Second in India for 'Quality of Living,' Following Hyderabad ( Representational Image )

Pune: Pune ranks second in India for ‘Quality of Living’ after Hyderabad, according to the Quality of Living Index 2023 published by Mercer, a global business consultant.

As per further information from Mercer’s Quality of Living Index, Hyderabad gained the top position of the best Indian city in terms of ‘Quality of Life’ at number 153, Pune came in at number 154 & Bengaluru came in at number 156. The top three cities in the world are Vienna, Zurich & Auckland respectively.

This index, which uses information from several cities worldwide, assesses the standard of living for workers who are stationed overseas, particularly those who have families. The ranking takes into account a number of variables, including the socio-political climate, schools and education, disease and sanitation standards, crime and violence, physical remoteness, and ease of communication.

The ‘Quality of Living’ rankings were last released in 2019, Hyderabad and Pune were tied for 143rd place.

A ‘Cost of Living’ survey, assessing the expensive cities to live in for foreign workers’ was published in 2022. Mumbai, which came in at number 127, was found to be the most expensive city in India. After Mumbai, the other ‘expensive’ cities in India in the 2022 ‘Cost of Living’ survey were New Delhi (155), Chennai (177), Bengaluru (178), Hyderabad (192) & Pune (201).
