A consortium of mobile retail chains in India has announced their decision to cease the sale of OnePlus devices from May 1, citing unresolved issues with the company. The decision affects 4,500 stores across six states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.

In a letter addressed to OnePlus India’s director of sales, the president of the South Indian Organised Retailers Association (ORA) outlined several grievances. These include consistently low profit margins on OnePlus products, delays in processing warranty and service claims, and restrictive bundling requirements that hinder retailers’ flexibility and profitability.

Despite repeated attempts to address these concerns with OnePlus, the retailers allege little progress or resolution. The ongoing issues have led to customer dissatisfaction and financial burdens on the retailers, prompting the drastic measure of discontinuing the sale of OnePlus products in their establishments.

The ORA, a registered association representing organized retail chains in India, emphasized its commitment to addressing members’ concerns and collectively advocating for their interests. The association’s decision reflects the challenges faced by retailers in maintaining sustainable businesses amidst increasing operational costs and competitive market dynamics.

OnePlus officials have yet to comment on the matter, but the decision underscores the importance of addressing retailer concerns and maintaining mutually beneficial partnerships in the mobile retail industry.
