According to a report by Antique Stock Broking, telecom tariffs are expected to rise by 15-17% following the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This increase, anticipated after the recent hike of up to 20% in December 2021, is projected to benefit Airtel the most.

Currently, Airtel’s per customer earnings stand at Rs 208, but this figure is expected to rise to Rs 286 by the end of 2026-27. With the Lok Sabha elections scheduled from April 19 to June 1 and results expected on June 4, the telecom industry is poised for changes.

Airtel could record its best finances in over a decade, “We expect Bharti’s subscriber base to grow at about two per cent per annum, against the industry growth of one per cent per annum,” the Antique Stock Broking added, emphasising Airtel’s strong position in the market.

Post-election, recharge amounts are likely to see a significant increase. For example, a Rs 100 recharge will become Rs 117, while a recharge of Rs 700 for 84 days will cost Rs 819. These adjustments indicate a potential rise in telecom costs for consumers in the near future.
