Mucormycosis patients to be treated under Urban Poor Scheme of PMC; scheme available at 140 hospitals

Patients who have recovered from Covid19 are now facing black fungus known as Mucormycosis. The treatment of this is very costly and most of the patients are unable to pay off the huge treatment costs. Patients who are diagnosed with Mucormycosis can now avail the Urban Poor Scheme of the Pune Municipal Corporation and get themselves treated. Earlier, Rs 1 lakh was sanctioned to cover up the expenses, but now the limit has been extended to Rs 3 lakhs.

Murlidhar Mohol, Mayor of Pune Municipal Corporation informed that several Hospitals in PMC have reserved beds in their Hospitals to treat such patients. In Dalvi Hospital in Shivaji Nagar 15 beds have been reserved and the operation theatre has been well equipped to treat such patients. Expert doctors have been called for to treat patients with utmost care. It has become important for Covid19 patients to keep an eye on post Covid care.
