Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, was recently seen at Disneyland Paris with Pakistani politician Sharmila Faruqui. The two were photographed together, with Ambani holding his granddaughter and posing with Faruqui and her family. The picture, captioned “And the Ambanis again,” was shared by Faruqui on Instagram, where she is seen wearing a Burberry T-shirt and carrying a Hermes bag. The same picture was also posted by Hashaam Riaz Sheikh on Instagram.
Sharmila Saheba Faruqui is an influential politician from Pakistan, affiliated with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Born on January 25, 1978, in Sindh, Faruqui, 46, has been elected to the Sindh Assembly twice. She comes from a notable political family; her maternal grandfather, N M Uqaili, was a former Minister of Finance in Pakistan, and her uncle, Salman Faruqui, was a close associate of President Asif Ali Zardari. Her father, Usman Farooqi, who passed away in 2021, was also a PPP leader and the former chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills.
Faruqui’s family has faced various controversies, including allegations of embezzling $1.95 billion from Pakistan Steel Mills. Despite these issues, Faruqui has built a distinguished career. She holds an MBA from Adamson Institute of Business Administration and Technology in Karachi and earned a doctorate in Law in 2023, proudly announcing her new title on social media.
In her personal life, Faruqui is married to Hashaam Riaz Sheikh, a former Wall Street investment banker and advisor to President Asif Ali Zardari. Their extravagant 15-day wedding in 2015, which featured a performance by Sukhbir Singh at one of the pre-wedding events, is considered one of Pakistan’s most expensive weddings. The couple has a six-year-old son named Hussain.
