Mumbai | May 6, 2025:
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai will temporarily suspend operations on both its primary and secondary runways for six hours on May 8, 2025, to conduct essential pre-monsoon maintenance. The closure is scheduled from 11 am to 5 pm, as part of the airport’s annual monsoon contingency programme.

Despite the shutdown, the airport authorities have assured that flight services and passenger movement will remain unaffected. A six-month advance Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued, allowing airlines and stakeholders ample time to adjust their schedules accordingly.

The maintenance work will include detailed surface inspections, minor runway repairs, and anti-waterlogging preparations to ensure operational safety during the upcoming rainy season. Advanced technology and expert teams will oversee the six-hour maintenance window to ensure efficient execution.

The airport management emphasized that the activity has been meticulously planned in coordination with airlines, air traffic control, and ground operations to avoid disruptions. CSMIA, India’s second-busiest airport, handles hundreds of daily flights and serves millions of passengers monthly. Officials reiterated the airport’s commitment to maintaining high safety and operational standards throughout the year.
