The tragic incident in Malad East has triggered anger and demands for strict action after a speeding car ran over a toddler and escaped without helping.

A heartbreaking hit-and-run incident in Mumbai’s Malad East has left the city shaken after a four-year-old boy was killed when a speeding car allegedly ran over him and the driver fled the scene without offering help.

The victim, identified as Lakshya Singh, was reportedly playing near the Nilayog Virat building area in Malad East when the accident took place. Witnesses said a speeding Innova Crysta struck the child with force, leaving him critically injured.

Lakshya was rushed to hospital immediately after the incident, but doctors declared him dead during treatment. The tragedy has sparked widespread outrage, especially after CCTV footage surfaced showing the accused driver fleeing from the spot instead of taking the child for urgent medical care.

Born only after 20 years of marriage, the innocent four-year-old, a house full of happiness, this accident broke the whole family forever.

According to reports, the driver briefly informed the building security guard about the accident before escaping. The visuals have intensified public anger, with many questioning how someone could abandon an injured child in such a situation.

Lakshya’s father, Jayprakash Singh, shared an emotional account of the incident, saying the family had recently hosted a wedding ceremony just days before the tragedy. “If the driver had taken my son straight to the hospital instead of running away, he might still be alive today,” he said.

He also alleged that the car dragged the child for some distance, calling it a direct hit-and-run case and demanding the strictest possible punishment for the accused.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation to trace and arrest the driver. A search operation is underway, and officials say efforts are being made to identify the accused through CCTV footage and local leads.

The incident has created an atmosphere of grief and anger in the neighbourhood, with residents demanding swift justice and stronger enforcement against reckless driving in residential areas.

The death of an innocent child has once again raised urgent concerns about speeding, road safety, and accountability in Mumbai’s crowded urban spaces, where even building premises are no longer safe from negligent drivers.
