Mumbai Man Slashes Wife with Razor Blade on Busy Street as She Heads to Office in Girgaon
A 32-year-old man from Mumbai reportedly assaulted his wife with a razor blade on Monday morning, also inflicting self-harm, following ongoing domestic disputes, according to police. The incident occurred around 10 am on Khadilkar Road in Girgaon, South Mumbai.
The accused, Sagar Belose, and his wife, Shital Sudhakar Chavan (30), had been facing marital issues that led to Chavan moving back to her parents’ home about a month ago. Despite Belose’s attempts to reach out to her, she had been avoiding his contact, an official said.
On the day of the attack, Chavan was en route to her office when her husband allegedly confronted her with the blade. She sustained severe injuries to her neck and face during the attack. Following the assault, Belose also harmed himself by slashing his own wrist with the razor blade.
Fortunately, due to the vigilance of local residents, Chavan’s life was saved. Nearby youths managed to detain Belose, preventing further harm. Both individuals were promptly attended to: Chavan was rushed to a private hospital, while Belose was taken to a government medical facility. Fortunately, both are reported to be out of danger, the official added.
The V P Road police station has registered a case against Belose, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
