Mumbai-Pune-Bengaluru Expressway to Reduce Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic: Nitin Gadkari

Pune: The upcoming Mumbai-Pune-Bengaluru Expressway is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Pimpri Chinchwad, announced Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday. Speaking during a campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Shankar Jagtap, who is contesting the Chinchwad seat in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Polls, Gadkari shared details about the project.
The expressway will connect Mumbai to Bengaluru, passing through Pune’s Pimpri Chinchwad via a ring road. This strategic design aims to reduce heavy vehicular flow on the existing routes, minimizing frequent traffic jams. The project, estimated at ₹55,000 crore, is set to transform the traffic scenario in the region.
“We are building an expressway from Mumbai to Bengaluru, which will pass via the ring road here. It will reduce traffic jams in Pimpri Chinchwad,” Gadkari stated.
Infrastructure Boost for Pune
In addition to the expressway, Gadkari highlighted other significant road infrastructure projects worth ₹80,000 crore approved for Pune. These include:
Nashik Phata to Khed Elevated Road – Estimated cost: ₹8,000 crore.
Solapur to Yavat Road Project.
Narhe to Ravet Road Development.
Talegaon to Chakan Elevated Road – Estimated cost: ₹7,000 crore.
“The government is committed to completing these projects on time, ensuring better connectivity and reduced travel time for Pune residents,” Gadkari added.
Election Context
The announcement comes as part of the BJP’s campaign ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Polls scheduled for November 20, with results to be declared on November 23.
