The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Limited has officially announced the temporary closure of the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai Pune Expressway) at Km 07.560 (Chikhale Rail Over Bridge). This closure is a part of the ongoing construction activities for the Panvel-Karjat Double Track Suburban Rail Corridor. Scheduled for January 18, 2024, the closure will be in effect from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Closure Details:

  • Venue: Chikhale Rail Over Bridge, Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai Pune Expressway), located at a distance of 7.560 kilometers from the starting point.
  • Schedule: January 18, 2024, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Alternative Routes:

  1. Light vehicles heading from Pune to Mumbai on the Expressway can exit at Mumbai Lane Km 55.000 and follow the route via Mumbai-Pune National Highway No. 48.
  2. An alternative route is available for light vehicles and buses traveling from Pune to Mumbai. Take the Mumbai Lane 39.800, Khopoli Exit, and continue on the Mumbai-Pune National Highway No. 48.
  3. The last lane at Khalapur Toll Gate on the Expressway can be used by all vehicles traveling from Pune to Mumbai. Divert from Km 32.500 to the Khalapur exit and continue on Mumbai-Pune National Highway No. 48 through Khopoli via Shedung Toll Plaza.
  4. Vehicles traveling from Pune to Mumbai can take a detour from Mumbai Lane 9.600 Panvel Exit and utilize Mumbai-Pune National Highway No. 48 to reach Kalamboli via Karanjade.
  5. All vehicles heading from Pune to Mumbai on Mumbai-Pune National Highway No. 48 will be redirected towards Panvel through Shedung Phata.

During the designated hours, all vehicles, both light and heavy, are prohibited on the Mumbai Channel of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Commuters are strongly advised to plan their trips accordingly and use the provided alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
