Tragedy struck Mumbai’s Andheri East on Wednesday evening when a fire erupted in a commercial building, claiming the lives of two men. The incident took place in the Narayan Plaza building, part of the Tex Centre on Sakivihar Road, in the Chandivali area. BMC officials confirmed the deaths and said multiple emergency teams responded immediately to contain the blaze.

The fire broke out at approximately 6:54 pm on the third floor, in an office operated by M/s Neocell Industries, covering around 1,500 square feet. Initially classified as a Level-I fire by the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the situation intensified due to extensive smoke and damage to electrical installations.

Firefighters found two individuals unconscious inside the office and rushed them to nearby hospitals. Bhagvan Pitale, 30, was taken to Seven Hills Hospital, and Sumant Jadhav, 28, to Rajawadi Hospital. Unfortunately, both were declared “brought dead” on arrival.

The blaze damaged office equipment, furniture, files, wooden partitions, glass windows and doors, false ceilings, electrical wiring, and a lithium-ion battery. Firefighters continued cooling operations late into the night to prevent flare-ups and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Several emergency agencies were involved in managing the situation, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, electricity distribution staff, local BMC ward personnel, and 108 ambulance services. The fire, confined to Unit No. 303, took nearly three hours to be completely controlled. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire.
